Where to Stay in Sabtang: Pananayan Pension House and the Camping By the Beach Experience

Looking for the best place to stay on the beautiful island of Sabtang in Batanes? We would definitely like to recommend Pananayan Pension House!

Pananayan Pension House is the best homestay in Sabtang island if you want a perfect view of the ocean, the lighthouse, and if you want to try camping by the shore.

The term ‘Pananayan‘ is an Ivatan term for waiting area. I talked to Ms. Joyce Elesterio, the very welcoming daughter and manager of the homestay and Pananayan canteen, and she mentioned that their business used to be near the port which served to be a waiting area for people going in and out of Sabtang Island.

We actually planned in staying on the island for about three nights but our supposedly first day in Sabtang was canceled because of the typhoon that time. I actually thought we’ll never get to the island because of the storm.

Good thing we just got stranded in Basco for one night! Still a good thing though because we get to experience the Batanes storm together! Haha!

Anyway, I was actually excited to check-in because of happyandbusytravel’s blog about the Pananayan Pension House!

Pananayan Pension House, Sabtang, Batanes

Okay, I want you to be present with me. Imagine staying near Sabtang’s shoreline with the lighthouse near you. At night, you can hear the soothing sound of waves, with the moon above the ocean, and with the stars sparkling so bright at night — together with the love of your life. Isn’t it sweet? Hehe.

It was actually a dream come true.

The Smooth Check-In

It was around 8 o’clock in the morning when we checked in at the Pananayan Pension House in Sabtang Island.

Since there’s no data connection or mobile signal in the area, I was not able to message Pananayan Pension House that we’ll be moving our stay to the next day, if the weather permits.

When we got to the place, they welcomed us with a big smile and helped us through our room on the first floor.

I was actually a bit sad because I talked to them weeks before that we would want the room near the balcony.

But because of the typhoon, they were still cleaning the rooms on the second floor when we arrived.

We stayed on the first floor first and asked again if we can transfer to the second floor after they cleaned the room. So happy they agreed! Our room was near the balcony, overlooking Basco, the ocean lighthouse, and the port of Sabtang.

We were also the only guests at that time. The house was all to ourselves!

I wanna go back. Really.

What’s Inside Pananayan Pension House?

What I love about Pananayan Pension House is that the whole house is generally clean and well-maintained. Really happy we stayed here!

  • Dining Area – Glad that they have a dining area! They also have a water dispenser, kettle, coffee and sugar, and mugs! Really a plus for a coffeeholic like me! Hehe!
  • Kitchen – There was no common kitchen in Pananayan Pension House but they were already constructing one when we were there. No worries about the food though because they also own a canteen near the port which is a 5-minute walk from the homestay
  • Living Room– What I love about Pananayan is that they have a living room at the first and second floors. Since we were the only guests at that time, we had so much fun staying in the living room.
  • TV They have a television in the living room however, there was no signal that time because of the typhoon. Would be better if they have cards or anything that guests can use for bonding time.
  • Rooms – I love their rooms! Pananayan Pension House is somewhat new and I love that the rooms were all fresh and clean. The whole house is well-maintained and you wouldn’t think twice about the cleanliness of the place. Not to mention that comfort rooms are really clean as well!

We got our room for around P400 per pax but they now have new rates. Please see below rates from their Facebook Page.

The Camping Experience

One of the items in our bucketlist is to try camping near Pananayan Pension House. We opted to pitch our tent early in the morning because it was so dark to pitch at night, we chickened out. Haha!

We just knew after our morning camping that if we opt to camp in the evening, they will assist us with our very own bonfire. Huhu!

oh, hello there, Mr. Sunshine!
Lovely morning view from our camping tent.
Can’t believe we pitched a tent! haha!
Camping area by the lighthouse! Beautiful.

We were surprised that they even pitched a tent for us!

At first, we thought there were other guests who want to camp as well. But turns out they thought we didn’t bring a tent! So, they pitched one for us. So sweet.

Camping before swimming!

Swimming Time and Roam Around the Shore

Of course, we will never leave without experiencing Sabtang’s sea! Hehe We went picture taking first before we submerged ourselves to the cold lagoon near the homestay. It was half amazing, half scary because we’ll never know when will the big waves come and what’s inside these rocks. Haha!

It was a total adventure.

Ryan, being his pa-superman self, went to the upper side of the rocks which got me so disturbed. Haha!

Pia’s Thoughts

Pananayan Pension House is actually the best place to stay during your Sabtang trip. I also urge you to stay two nights to really enjoy Sabtang and have intimate moments with loved ones and self (if you are traveling solo).

I think it would be best if Pananayan Pension House has a common kitchen for guests though. Not sure if the kitchen that they constructing the last time was built now. But still, we are highly recommending this place if you want a home away from home, access to Sabtang’s shore, near the lighthouse and if you want camping by the beach!

Selah Pods Hotel Review: My Favorite Budget-Friendly Hotel in Pasay

Are you looking for a clean and cheap hotel in Metro Manila? I highly suggest Selah Pods Hotel in Pasay!

I have always been a fan of staycations here in Metro Manila. Already tried some luxury hotels, to mid-range, budget, and even some super epic hotel stays that I end up going home after a couple of hours after checking in. *face palm*

With the traffic of the metro, one will really want to just take a breath of fresh air in another home away from home.

I know you also wanna go a bit far from the city from time to time, but if you just wanna chill, watch Netflix, or just work in a nice place, a staycation in Metro Manila will be the best option.

In this blog, we will talk more about Selah Pods Hotel situated on the long road of FB Harrisson in Pasay City.

I can say that this is one of my favorite hotels in the metro because of its affordable and clean and cute rooms. Mama, my nephew, and my now husband loves every area in this hotel.

Selah Pods Hotel

Under the management of Zen Rooms, Selah Pods Hotel is one of the newest hotels that lies in the heart of the busy Buendia in Pasay. Located near Makati business center, Selah Pods is a good place to stay for every traveler, may it be for staycations, business, or leisure.

Selah Pods Hotel Details

  • Address: 2004-224 David St. cor PH, San Hose, F.B. Harrison St, Pasay, 1305
  • Contact Number: (02) 775 5038

Room Rates and Room Tour

Selah Pods, a low-cost hotel, is perfect for everyone who wants to stay in a budget-friendly hotel.

This room for two is equipped with one double bed, towels, toothbrush, shampoo and conditioner. I love that the bed is not so hard and the pillows are so fluffy.

I got the room for around P900 from Agoda!

Selah Pods’ Employees and Services

As previously mentioned, Selah Pods Hotel is in partnership with Zenrooms that’s why the employees are trained well by the company.

From the front office to guards, to utility, it’s very evident that Zenrooms really prioritize training and growth for its employees.

Things to Do at Selah Pods Hotel Pasay

1Dip into Selah’s rooftop swimming pool
One of the best parts of our staycation is Selah Pods’ picturesque swimming pool. It’s super beautiful in daylight but it’s much more beautiful and elegant at night because of its changing colors matching Makati’s city lights.|

2Treat your sweetheart to a romantic rooftop date night
Aside from the swimming pool, Selah Pods has a rooftop restaurant as well.

Imagine this: sweet music at the background, with the sound of waters gently splashing, under the stars and the view of Makati’s city lights… One of the most relaxing and romantic moments to remember. Go and plan your date night with your loved one!

3Bonding over Selah Pods Lounge
Isn’t it amazing when you have the time to just sit down and talk about anything under the sun? When in Selah Pods, you can stay at their environment-friendly lounge where almost everything is made of recycled materials.

4Take advantage of Selah Pods strong internet wifi connection
What I love most in a staycation is its wifi connection. While some are saying that its time for relaxation, well sure it is, but personally, I am more into online stuff like reading online blogs that’s why I am really happy if the internet is strong.

And that’s what you’ll find here at Selah Pods! Take advantage of the fast internet and go watch your favorite movies, play mobile legends or PUBG with your loved ones!

Pia’s Thoughts

Selah Pods has been one of my favorites ever since it was introduced to me. Its proximity to city centers, services, amenities, room cleanliness, and style, plus the very affordable room rate, are just some things that you will love about Selah Pods.

Whether you are celebrating life’s occasions, or maybe wanting to be alone, Selah Pods is one of the best budget hotels in Pasay for you.

Will I go back? Of course!

Nayomi Sanctuary Resort: Best Glamping Experience [Updated 2019]

True to its tagline, Eat, Sleep, Relax, Repeat, you will never leave Nayomi Sanctuary Resort without having that glorious feeling of being pampered to the fullest!

Wanna know a trivia? Nayomi Sanctuary Resort is actually a property of the Prats Family. Yes! The resort has long been a family vacation resort ever since but eventually opened the establishment to the public around 2015.

Located in Balete, Batangas, this 14,418 square meters resort is an hour and a half drive from Metro Manila but around two hours if you chose to commute.

If you are looking for a place to unwind, relax, and just forget about the hustle and bustle of the city, Nayomi resort is one of the perfect places to go to.

Aside from the magical glamping tents that they are offering, they also have hotel rooms, villas, and dorms that has delicate interior designs which is perfect for your family, barkada, and special someone.

Nayomi Sanctuary Resort Glamping Experience

Last February 6-7, 2017, my best friend and I went to Nayomi for an overnight staycation in one of their glamping tents.

Even though we stayed for just a little over 24 hours, I fell in love with everything about Nayomi: overlooking Taal Lake and Batangas mountains, weather is cold just like that of Tagaytay, instagrammable spots are just about everywhere, everything is clean and well-maintained, and lastly, the employees are all so courteous, kind, and welcoming!

Read: Mt. Ulap: Traversing Heaven on Earth

Every time I enter a hotel/resort may it be for the purpose of review or just staycation with family or business trip, what I always look forward to is how the employees treats me and the people around me.

What I love about Nayomi is that they know how to treat their guests with utmost care and they never forget to ask how’s your stay, how’s the meal.. And I think it’s not because they know that I am reviewing the resort but because I saw how they treat other guests as well.

So, kudos to the management for having such employees!

GUESS THIS IS MY MOST MEMORABLE RESORT REVIEW SINCE THE DAY I STARTED BLOGGING.🌴⛺

A POST SHARED BY PIATHOUGHT 🍀 (@IAMPIATHOUGHT) ON

The Warm Welcome

After about 1 and 30 minute travel time from Manila, not to mention the long and cold tricycle ride to the resort, we finally arrived at around 2:30 o’clock in the afternoon. We were welcomed by their guard full of smile as he graciously assist us to the reception area.

As we entered the resort, we already saw how wide and beautiful the area is.

I don’t really know why but I feel like I was entering a familiar place, a picturesque, comforting haven that I’ve been longing for months – Yes! I feel home

[the_ad id=”1588″]

After months of thinking about an escape from the city, I was perfectly sure that time that Nayomi is the place I was looking for. The big NAYOMI letters to my left were as if smiling at me, saying that they have been waiting for us.

We then headed to the reception area and were welcomed and greeted by Ms. Len Zara, Nayomi’s Reservation Manager with a smile and welcome drinks.

Ms. Len Zara handing us the pad lock, key, and service cellphone.

Here’s our welcome drink, a combination of pineapple and orange juice! Surprisingly delicious!

[the_ad id=”1588″]

After a little chit-chat, off we went to our glamping tent which is Tent no. 4. We were assisted by two of their staff and we rode a golf cart! The road is in downward slope and Kuya drives a bit fast (or I’m just a bit scared. Haha!) but hey, we still managed to video the experience!

We were assisted by two of Nayomi Resort’s staff using their golf cart! So cool!

Nayomi Resort’s Glamping Tent

Since it is my first time to try glamping and to actually see one, I am amazed how everything was done and organized.

Aside from the picturesque view from our picnic table, I was also interested on how the glamping tent was set up. After we settled inside the tent, I had a quick stroll around our tent and saw the delicate materials to ensure that the tent has a strong foundation.

Our glamping tent is beautifully situated facing Batangas mountains. <3

I so love the our overall glamping space! Here’s why:

  1. We have our very own toilet! Not shared!
  2. Nayomi Sanctuary Resort didn’t forget to make a separate picnic table inside the glamping area maybe for a more private chit-chat or sessions with the group
  3. As mentioned earlier, Nayomi Sanctuary Resort has been in its full operation since 2015 but everything on our area is well-maintained and very clean!
  4. Our glamping tent (no. 4) was situated facing the Batangas mountains leaving a perfect nature view while having coffee or relaxing inside the tent.
  5. Colorful banderitas added to the charm of our glamping tent!
  6. Big light bulbs are just so lovely at night <3

Here’s our glamping area at night and day time. So magical. 🙂

GLAMPING AT DAYTIME

GLAMPING AT NIGHT

Cutie DIY lamp!!! And there’s the cellphone that was given to us for communication if there’s a mumu (charot!) and pad lock and keys.

They have this electric mosquito killer even though walang lamok. 🙂
Super lambot unan at kama!

How’s our sleep?

Angelic slept a bit earlier than the usual maybe because of the cold weather and maybe because our stomach is full! Haha. However, me on the other hand was starting to write about Nayomi. I think I slept at around 1:30AM to the sounds of crickets outside.

It was 6:15AM when we woke up. We were about to see the sunrise but was not able to catch it because it’s still so cold outside!

Anyway, I think had one of the best sleeps of my life.

I honestly thought that I would be a bit scared because you know, you’re just inside a pretty tent, what if someone peeks, opens the tent, or anything! Haha! But yeah, I had a really sound sleep.

Good morning! So cold!
This greeted us early in the morning! We weren’t able to witness the sunrise because it was so cold we just wanna sleep! Haha!

Resort and Glamping Recommendations

While we love our stay at the resort, listed below are just some of the recommendations to the management that I hope they would somehow consider to talk about 🙂

  • I think our glamping experience would be the best if we have a campfire nearby. Or maybe at least a common campfire area if it’s not possible to have one per tent. I can imagine myself while roasting marshmallows! That would be so much fun!
  • I hope the T&B has hot water because it’s really cold in the evening and morning haha!
  • Maybe you can also consider to have a shuttle from Manila to the resort. While it’s perfectly fine for me to travel by bus and tricycle, I’m actually thinking about families who doesn’t have their own service going to the resort. Plus, the tricycle ride is really long and bumpy. I also can’t imagine myself riding the tricycle to and from the resort at night.

How to get to Nayomi Sanctuary Resort

From Manila via PUV:

  1. From Shaw, Boulevard, take a bus going to Lipa, Batangas. In our case, we waited for around 15-30 minutes for buses bound to Lipa. Luckily, Alps stopped for us. We also learned that they are not allowed to stop along Shaw. So better go to LRT Buendia or Cubao terminals bound to Lipa, Batangas to save time waiting.
  • Travel Time: 2 hours
  • Fare: P124
  1. Inform conductor to drop you off Tambo Bus Stop just right after the Lipa tollway. Anyway, if feel like the traffic is slowly building up, then you’re already near the frop off place. One sign as well is the Jolibee on your right which is also after the tollway.
  2. Once you got off, cross the street and take the jeepney going to SM Lipa/Robinsons Lipa. Tell Kuya Driver to drop you off Starbucks/Shakeys. It is just right after the footbridge.
  • Travel Time: 10 minutes
  • Fare: P7
  1. Cross the street again to the side of Shakeys and Starbucks. From there you will see a line of tricycles. Tell Kuya Driver that you’ll be going to Nayomi Sanctuary Resort. Typically, all the drivers know Nayomi already.
  • Travel Time: 20-30 minutes
  • Fare: P200- P300

Tip: Make sure to ask Kuya driver how much the fare is. Based on our experience, Kuya Driver first said that fare is P150. Then later on changed to P200. After we get off Nayomi (after 30minutes, I guess), we handed P250 to him instead of P200 since we feel like P250 is really worth the long and bumpy ride.

Overall Experience

Since I have been looking for a quiet place to unwind, Nayomi Sanctuary Resort was actually the answer to it. I highly recommend this resort if you also want peace and full relaxation to end a stressful week. What adds to the thrill is that I spent it in a beautiful glamping tent. 🙂

From my first glamping experience, to the staff, food, services, and cleanliness of the resort, I can say that I am now in love with Nayomi! Can’t wait to be back soon with my Mama!

The Prats family really knows how to train their staff and maintain the resort. Two thumbs up for this amazing experience!

Anyway, it was indeed a very long and hot day and our tired bodies were looking for a comfortable place to stay. And while there are many hotels and resorts in Bataan, I love that we had our stay at the comfy Casa Veles Hotel Bataan.

    The Warm Welcome

It was lunchtime when we first had a glimpse of the hotel as we had our lunch at their in-house cafe, Cafe Industriya.

After the satisfying lunch, we asked if we can have an early check-in. Glad that the hotel rooms are already vacant that time.

Just beside Cafe Industriya, Casa Veles boasts an up and about industrial interior design with only three floors high which made us feel a sense of exclusivity and privacy. What I love about the industrial designs of a building is that it is so minimalistic, clean, and the bare gray color of the place is pleasing to my eyes.

After a couple of minutes, the Receptionist handed us our respective key cards. Love that they are giving free welcome drinks as well that we can avail during our stay. We availed it before we !

A bit blurred but that’s our key card and my comfy bed!

And off we went to the second floor of the building. Glad that Armela of aroundthemetro.ph is my room buddy! The two gents, Allan of the Filipinorambler.com and Jon of the Jontotheworld.com went up to the third floor of the building. They said that their room smells great!

    The Room

I love how our room was neatly designed. For some reason, I actually love hotels that have minimalistic style but still delivers.

Our room is a twin-bedroom with one Smart TV with cable! Yup, with cable. We watched Discovery Channel while chitchatting about life and #adulting stuff. Haha.

Yey! Forgot to bring slippers. Buti nalang meron sila! 🙂

Happy that the rooms are equipped with their very own wifi as well! Imagine a very fast internet connection with a coffee on your table and your laptop with you in your comfy bed. Ahhh, I wanna go back.

The Comfort Room is a good sight to behold as well. The CR is so clean with complete amenities – toothbrush, clean towels, hair dryer, and oh, I love how they put big containers for shampoo and conditioner. No additional plastic wastes!

Before going to bed, we had a coffee session together with Jon and Armela at the nearest coffee shop, Mini Stop! LOL. We talked about blogging and life. Glad that these two are just so inspiring that I actually talked about them on my post. Hope to be with them again soon!

    Breakfast at Cafe Industriya

Because we need to leave Bataan at , I made sure to get up at around And boy, it was so hard to leave my comfy bed! Huhu. This is true, I honestly had a hard time getting up because I still wanna enjoy my bed.

But then, we need to eat as fast as we could so we can leave at 8AM.

Good thing that our gents are also Boy Scouts and were up and ready by the time we got to Cafe Industriya.

Since I know I’ll have a very long trip from Bataan to Cavite, I decided to take the Tapsilog. I was surprised that they were serving two eggs! Diba our usual is just one egg but Cafe Industriya makes sure that their guests will leave their cafe full. 🙂

    Pia’s Thoughts

I had a super good night sleep. Medyo hindi ako natulog nung first day pero nabawi naman sa second night. Love it!

Home to 21 guest rooms, Casa Veles Hotel is your ideal place if you want a fulfilling night of sleep during your Bataan escapade.

Yes, Casa Veles Hotel, highly recommended!

The Reef Hotel and Residences Subic: A Review

The Reef Hotel and Residences opened its doors to the public in January 2016. Conveniently located at the heart of Subic, The Reef is accessible to shopping destinations, restaurants, entertainments and tourist spots making your stay complete, memorable, and perfect.

At the back of the hotel, overlooking Subic’s port. Love it!

Strategically situated at the long stretch of Waterfront Road, The Reef Subic is not your ordinary hotel + residences. It boasts a very scenic view of the Subic Bay at the back and a green and peaceful view of the park in front.

This ever-growing and potential hotel and residences in Subic Bay Freeport Zone has a number of room types with a total of 32 rooms suited for the diverse need of its guests, may it be for business or leisure.

The Reef Hotel and Residences Experience

    The Lounge

Last February 2016, I was privileged to be one of the first guests who tried the newest hotel in town.

Even though the hotel was not that finished yet at that time, everything was lovely already. Once you stepped in the hotel, the tranquil vibe brought by this Santorini-inspired hotel will welcome you.

I also love that the reception area has a number of rattan made furniture which have been my instant favorite!

If you happen to stay in this hotel, never miss out checking their lounge because everything is instagram-worthy! The hotel’s open extended lounge as well has a way to the port which is really cool!

Being a beach baby, I love that this hotel is really close to this clean port, giving me the feeling of being in the sea with the reefs and waves as their decoration peg. I also love their color which is white and turquoise blue which adds to the cold and relaxing aura of the hotel.

    Hotel Employees

Personally, the thing I always check in any of my hotel stay is how courteous the employees are.

    Are they smiling at you?
    Saying good morning?
    Bidding goodbye?
Are they asking how you’re sleep was?

Something that The Reef Hotel and Residences do! Their pretty and handsome hotel receptionists are all with gentle smiles which I believe adds to the guests overall happy experience.

Of course, I would like to commend Mr. Jayee Ritumalta, the Operations Manager of the hotel for being one of the most courteous, hospitable, and hands-on managers I’ve ever met.

He gladly assisted me in all of my queries and even exerted efforts an Operations Manager wouldn’t normally do — like assisting me with my bags since the bell boys were helping other guests that time.

And as a guest, this is one great way to feel really valued.

I also forgot something in my room that night but they contacted me and even brought the things I left to Best Western Hotel Subic which was my hotel on my second night in Subic!

Couldn’t help but smile and give thanks! Kudos to Team The Reef Hotel and Residences!

I am so happy and blessed that the Managers of The Reef Hotel and Best Western Subic are now my friends. Lovely people indeed!

    Hotel Rooms

The Reef Hotel has different room types suited for the needs and wants of every guest. What I love the most of their hotel rooms is it offers superior modern accommodation fully equipped with premium room amenities, free fiber-optic wifi for speedy connection, cozy bed and soft linens, and I so love their pillows too!

    Welcome to my room!

    Selfie muna sa CR. Haha!

Also, every room has its own balcony giving you the option to choose rooms with Sea or Park view. During my staycation, although I love the calm sea, I chose the park view which is peaceful and relaxing – the green surrounding is just soothing to the eyes.

5 Things to Do at Azure Resort and Residences, Paranaque (with your Mama)

If you have been following my instagram or Facebook Profile, it is not a secret that I love my Mama so much.

Maybe because I am the only daughter and I don’t have a Father anymore and we’re stuck with each other? Haha! Joke, Ma. Labshu. It is because she is a Mother, Father, Sister, provider, and a friend rolled into one.

Anyway, part of my faith goals for this year is to establish a closer and deeper relationship with my Mama. In the past years, I hate to admit this, but I just realized now that I was not really paying so much attention to her.

I also can’t think of times that we stayed in a hotel for a staycation with just the two of us because it’s either we are together with my ex-boyfriend or cousin.

But last month, I was so excited to share that one of my goals na ma-solo siya in a staycation ay natupad! Huhu!

How did we book our beach view room?

We booked Siglo Suites at the Azure Urban Resort at TravelBook.ph with the original price of PHP 2,800.00 for the weekend rate.

But since I have 1,350 accumulated reward points from TravelBook.ph (you can get this from your past hotel bookings!), and PHP 632.80 discount code, we only paid PHP 811.20 for a one-bedroom – beach view overnight staycation inclusive of amenities.

    Yes, only for PHP 811.20!

Siglo Suites at the Azure Resort and Residences has around 160 rooms ranging from Family room, one-bedroom with the option of city or beach view. I highly recommend Siglo Suites if you’ll book a room in Azure.

    Book now HERE!

Here are some of the things to do at the Azure Urban Resort and Residences with your Mama

    1. Enjoy the wave pool with her (and some kiddos!)
The wave pool is activated every after 30 minutes so after minutes of waiting (I think it is really more than 30 minutes), Mama and I went to the left most part in the middle of the pool because the waves are much higher there. And there were a lot of people! From kids to teenagers, to grandfathers.. But we really didn’t mind! We just went there and Mama doesn’t want to get off my hand. Haha.I felt like a three-year old getting her protection from her Mama.

      Waiting for the wavessss!

Sabi nya di naman siya mag i-enjoy… Haha!

      Picture, Pia. Yung pahiga naman!

    2. Pictorial by the ‘man-made’ beach
Since we arrived late in the afternoon already, we weren’t have so much time to visit the man-made beach on our first day.And on our second day, after some papilit effect because she doesn’t want to wear shorts, she finally said yes to swimming! Yey! I know she really doesn’t want to wear shorts and I was just so happy because she step out of her comfort zone. Hooray! And yes, she enjoyed the beach so much! I was just her photographer most of the time. Haha!

Yes, teaching her pa-cute styles! Haha!

      Oha!

    3. Pamper her with face masks
I bought some face masks days before our staycation so we can also pamper our face before we sleep. Yee! Didn’t want to post the photos with our face masks because we looked like ghosts. Haha!

She’s learning how to do the finger heart here.

      Face masksss! <3

    4. Coffee, donuts (!!) and selfies by the bed
We also had our convo night with a cup of coffee! :)One thing I always (want to) do whenever I have staycations is to sip a cup of coffee while I’m having my quiet time or reading a good book. But a good coffee with Mama is still the best, kahit na minsan nag iinisan. Haha!

      Coffee time!

      ..and Krispy Kreme donuts!

      Sorry for my face! Haha!

    5. Shop in the nearby mall
So glad that the Azure Resort and Residences is just a kilometer (I think) away from SM Bicutan! We roamed around the mall, ate out, bought some groceries for breakfast and checked out some nice dresses. Hehe!

BONUS: Enjoy the room and roam around the resort!

At first, I felt how tired she was from our very looooong trip to the resort. She even said that she wants to go home nalang because our Grab driver took 30 minutes before he said that he can’t fetch us. Long story short, we booked another grab/uber from Ayala and prayed deeply to keep calm and just smile. Haha!

Anyway, we really had so much fun in this resort! Thanking God for the gift of time and rest! I also hope you’ll take that initiative and plan for a staycation with your Mama.

Go now and make plans with your Mama. I know she’ll definitely enjoy this place!

Crowne Plaza Manila Hotel Review & Staycation

If you’re looking for a great place to stay in Ortigas Center, allow me to recommend Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria

True to its promise, Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria offers one of the best and most comfortable stays in the metro. Though tagged as a business hotel because of its location among office buildings, Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria is also great for staycations with family, friends, and, of course, your special someone. It towers along Ortigas Avenue and right next to Robinsons Galleria.

As a travel blogger who’s stayed in countless hotels before, I initially thought that Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria will be just like the other high-end hotels in Metro Manila where you’ll have huge beds, gorgeous furnishings, a classy ambience, etc. It’s not that they’re bad but since I’ll be reviewing the place, I might as well expect something out of the ordinary, right? But Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria didn’t disappoint, as their very own Club Lounge and more left me quite impressed.

    An Elegant Welcome

When my colleague and I arrived, we were welcomed by the courteous staff at the hotel lobby that boasts an eye-catching crystal chandelier, a grandiose hallway, and gorgeous floor tiles. Paintings hang on the rich, white walls while the hotel’s soft music adds to the whole glamorous vibe. Our experience at Crown Plaza Manila Galleria was certainly off to a good start.

After the quick check-in, the staff informed us that our accommodation, a Club Deluxe Room, is located at the 18th floor, and one of the room’s inclusive features is access to the Club Lounge at the 19th floor. My colleague and I were all giddy as we made our way to the elevator.

We love how well-lit the whole corridor. There is also soothing music playing in the background.
    The Not So Ordinary Room

When we got inside the room, we were pleasantly surprised with how spacious it was. It has two queen-sized beds, a 42-inch LED TV, and a bathroom with shower and bathtub. I don’t know about you, but a bathroom with a tub where I can have a warm and relaxing bath always wins me over.

After a very long day, this Club Deluxe Twin Bedroom is heaven to us!
Even after a warm bath, you can expect the 41 square meter-room to keep you relaxed—it is painted with neutral tones, while the windows open up to an amazing view of Ortigas Center’s magnificent skyline.

Here’s a rundown of the amenities of the Crown Plaza Manila Galleria’s Club Deluxe Room:

    1. Access to Club Lounge with complimentary breakfast and cocktails with complimentary WiFi
    2. 42-inch LED Cable Television
    3. Safety Deposit Box
    4. Complimentary access to outdoor pool and Gold’s Gym Express
    5. Complimentary access to sauna
    6. Iron and ironing board
    7. Complete bathroom amenities with bath tub and phone extension

You can see the busy Ortigas skyline here.

A lovely work station inside our room.

    The Club Lounge

My colleague and I were already perfectly content while lying on our soft beds when we decided to check out the Club Lounge. When we got there, we were ushered like certified VIPs. The Club Lounge looked like a combination of a fine dining restaurant and a modern library: the cozy lounge areas were complete with workstations and buffet tables.

When we sat down, we were offered some refreshments and a list of the services and amenities that we can avail of:

    1. Complimentary food and beverage services good for two adults
    1. Buffet Breakfast – 6:30H – 10:30H daily
    2. Afternoon Tea – 1500H – 1700H daily
    3. Evening Cocktail – 1730H -2000H daily
    4. All Day Refreshment
    2. Complimentary in-room internet access
    3. Free Local Calls
    4. Free Daily Newspaper
    5. Free use of the Board Room/Meeting Room (Up to 2 hours per stay)
    6. Free Pressing of one Suit or Dress
    7. Complimentary 15 Minute Back Massage or Foot Reflex
    8. A dedicated room attendant to address your needs

My favorite about the Club Lounge will have to be the exclusivity. Imagine chilling in your favorite coffee shop with just a few guests around and an attendant ready to assist you anytime. With only the hotel’s soft music in the background, you can plop into a sofa chair and read a book or work on your laptop with the lounge’s WiFi. Refreshments are complimentary and they entertain special requests, too.

    Dinner at Seven Corners

After a quick tour around the Club Lounge and some parts of the hotel, we went back to our room and prepared for buffet dinner at Seven Corners.

Located at the 3rd floor of Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant incorporates a themed kitchen concept featuring Indian, Western, Japanese, Asian, and Italian cuisines.

The buffet has several cooking stations where you’ll have delectable food choices. I will just have the photos speak for themselves:

Seven Corner’s dessert area is something you won’t resist!

Seafood Area: Perfect for seafood lovers like me!

Well done, please! One of the most delicious steaks I’ve ever had!

     My favorites in one photo!

    Lunch at Xin Tian Di

Before heading home the next day, we had a sumptuous lunch at Xin Tian Di Chinese Restaurant. Located at the 4th floor of the hotel, Xin Tian Di offers an authentic Chinese dining experience—from the concept to their house specialties like roast pecking duck to their Dim Sum Bar.

When we sat down for lunch, Xin Tian Di reminded me of the Chinese restaurants my family and I would visit when I was young: filled with round tables and with Chinese music playing in the background.

We started our sumptuous meal with some steamed shrimp dumpling with crab roe siomai, steamed shrimp dumpling hakao, and Special Fried Asia spring roll. Their hakao and siomai are simply superb—each piece is packed with shrimp and crab filling and not like the cheap ones that are all just flour wrapper. But my favorite will have to be the Special Fried Asia spring roll. More than its real mouthful name, its crunchy outer layer is complimented well by the combination of lime juice, sugar, and hoisin sauce. Definitely a must try!

After the appetizers, we had the following for main course:

    1. Pecking Duck (2 ways)
    2. Steamed Seafood Dumpling Soup
    3. Sauteed Beef Steak Filler with Mango
    4. Braised Black Mushroom and Sea Cucumber with Oyster Sauce
    5. Hot Prawn Salad in Basket

Also, if you are a dimsum lover like me, try their “Unlimited Dimsum” which is served from Monday to Sunday, from 11AM to 2:30PM!

With our bellies full, my colleague and I decided to head home while nodding in agreement that Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria exceeded our expectations.

It has everything you can expect from a high-end hotel, but with unique offerings and impressive service, this posh establishment is certainly something else.
